What size lid do I need for my pot or pan?

Start with the pot or pan itself, since lids are matched to a specific line. Measure across the top of the pot, and check whether your lid is sized by diameter or by quart. The Winco AXS Series covers are listed by diameter, from 10" to 20", while the Winco ASP covers and the Browne stock pot and sauce pan covers are listed by quart. Choose the series that matches your cookware, such as the Browne Thermalloy-Series aluminum stock pots or the Winco ASP-Series sauce pans. Will a Winco lid fit a Browne pan?

For certain models, yes. Winco's stainless steel pot and pan covers list the Browne ELEMENTS fry pans they fit: the Winco 8" SSTC-8F Stainless Steel Pot & Pan Cover fits Browne 5734048 and 5734058, the Winco 9 1/2" SSTC-8 Stainless Steel Pot & Pan Cover fits Browne 5734050 and 5734060, and the Winco 11 1/4" SSTC-12 Stainless Steel Pot & Pan Cover fits Browne 5734051 and 5734061. Those are the 8", 9 1/2", and 11" sizes of our fry pans. For other pans, match the lid to the cookware series it lists.

Do you need a lid on a stock pot?

For most jobs, yes. A lid brings a big pot up to temperature faster, holds the heat during a long simmer, cuts down on evaporation, and keeps splatter and dust out when the pot is staged on the line. Winco's AXS Series aluminum stock pot covers and Browne's Aluminum Stock Pot Cover are sold separately, so add one when you order the pot. Our stainless steel stock pots, like the Browne ELEMENTS, come with a cover included. Leave the lid off or ajar when you want a stock to reduce or to let steam escape.
