Commercial Air Curtains, Patio Heaters & Insect Traps in Toronto & Canada

Business appliances cover the equipment that protects and comforts your space instead of cooking the food, and you'll want them when a back door left open is letting in flies and cold air, or when a patio needs to stay busy past the first frost. Curtron builds the commercial air curtains and doors that solve the first problem: the Curtron MCS-Series Microshield Air Curtain reduces heat and AC loss through a doorway by up to 90%, the Curtron S-CFD Series Front Door Air Curtain covers doors up to 10' high, and the Curtron M-Series Strip Curtain Doors keep the cold in at a walk-in cooler. The Curtron SPD-30 Series Swinging Traffic Door separates customer and service areas, while the Curtron Pest-Pro 100 Series Decorative Insect Trap catches flying insects with a silent UV light. To extend patio season, Omcan offers heaters like the Omcan 47879 Pyramid Patio Heater, a propane model rated at 42,000 BTU. Phoenix Food Equipment is based right here in Vaughan and ships air curtains, patio heaters, and commercial doors across the GTA — Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, and Oakville included — plus nationwide across Canada.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions we hear from operators.

Do air curtains keep flies out of a restaurant?

They help. An air curtain blows a steady sheet of air across a doorway, which keeps flying insects and airborne contaminants outside and helps hold in your heating or air conditioning while the door is open. That makes one a good fit for a propped-open back door or a busy takeout entrance. The Curtron Air-Pro Series Air Curtain has a stainless steel housing and an automatic door plunger switch, and the Curtron S-IBD Series Insect Back Door Stainless Steel Air Curtain is made for back doors up to 10' high. An air curtain won't replace good door habits and pest control, so pair one with a UV trap from our insect traps collection, and browse all of our air curtains and traffic doors.

Should you get a propane or electric patio heater for a restaurant patio?

It comes down to where the heater sits and how much space you need to warm. A propane heater like the Omcan 47879 Pyramid Patio Heater runs on a 20 lb propane tank, puts out 42,000 BTU to heat roughly 113 to 175 sq ft, and rolls on built-in casters, so it needs no outlet. Electric models plug into a 120V outlet: the Omcan 31432 Patio Heater is a 1,500W unit with a wall-mounting bracket and a remote control with a 13-foot range, and the Omcan 43124 Column Heater is a 55-inch-tall 1,500W model with a 360° tip-over safety switch. At 1,500W, about 5,100 BTU, they put out far less heat than the propane unit, so they suit smaller spots near an outlet. Propane heaters give off carbon monoxide, so never run one in an enclosed space, and check each manual for clearances under a roof or awning. See all of our patio heaters.

What is a strip curtain door used for on a walk-in cooler?

A strip curtain door hangs clear PVC strips in a doorway so staff and carts can walk straight through while the strips help keep cold air in and dust out. They are common on walk-in coolers and freezers and on personnel doorways. The Curtron Curtronizer Strip Curtain Door is NSF certified and comes with strips designed for temperatures from -20°F to 140°F for walk-in coolers and freezers, and the Curtron M-Series Strip Curtain Doors are another option with an aluminum mounting bar included. If you would rather have a solid door, the Curtron Cold Storage Swing Door comes as a 4-inch-thick cooler door or a -10 degree freezer door.
