Insect Traps

Commercial Insect Traps for Restaurants in Toronto & Canada

An insect trap draws flying insects to a UV light and catches them on a sticky board, and you'll want one when flies keep turning up in the dining room, near the prep area, or by a back door that's busy with deliveries. Curtron makes every trap in this collection. The Curtron UC-50 Pest-Pro Series Under Counter Insect Trap is only 11.5 inches wide, mounts under a counter with its bracket, and covers 90 sq ft, which suits a bar or service station. For bigger rooms, the Curtron Pest-Pro 100 Series Decorative Insect Trap covers 900 sq ft with a 15 watt UV light, and the Curtron Pest-Pro 150 Series Decorative Insect Trap covers 1,800 sq ft with two 25 watt lights. All three run silently, so guests won't notice them, and the Curtron Pest-Pro 300 Series Decorative Insect Trap rounds out the collection. Serving Vaughan and the wider GTA — including Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, and Oakville — Phoenix Food Equipment ships commercial insect traps nationwide across Canada.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions we hear from operators.

How do UV insect light traps work?

A UV insect light trap uses ultraviolet light to attract flying insects, and a disposable adhesive board inside the unit catches them so they don't end up in your dining room or kitchen. It runs silently. The Curtron UC-50 uses a 15 watt UV light with two 3-by-11-inch boards, the Pest-Pro 100 uses a 15 watt light with a 4-by-17-inch board, and the Pest-Pro 150 uses two 25 watt lights with a 4-by-17-inch board. You'll want one whenever flies or other flying insects are a regular problem, so it catches the insects already in the room.

Where should you put an insect light trap in a restaurant?

Choose a spot inside the room where insects gather or come in, away from food prep surfaces and open food, and match the model to the space: the Curtron UC-50 covers 90 sq ft, the Pest-Pro 100 covers 900 sq ft, and the Pest-Pro 150 covers 1,800 sq ft and mounts 5 to 6 feet above the floor. The UC-50 comes with a mounting bracket for under-counter mounting. Placement away from food is general good practice, so check with your pest control provider too. Pair a trap with an air curtain at the back door to keep more insects out in the first place; see our air curtains and traffic doors.

How long do insect light traps last?

Warranty length is a good guide to how long these last: the Curtron UC-50 and Pest-Pro 100 come with 5-year warranties, and the Pest-Pro 150 has a 2-year limited parts warranty. The parts you replace are the disposable adhesive board and the UV light. Change the board when it's covered with insects or dust, since a full board catches fewer new ones. The product pages don't list a replacement schedule for the UV light, so check the manual, though UV lamps in insect traps are commonly replaced about once a year as they weaken over time.
