Commercial Oven Mitts in Toronto & Canada

Oven mitts are what stands between a cook's hands and a hot sheet pan, and you'll need them any time you're pulling trays from the oven, moving pans off the range, or reaching into a steam table. Winco makes two commercial oven mitts, both offering protection up to 400°F (205°C): the Flame Retardant Oven Mitt, in 13" and 15" lengths, and the Neoprene Oven Mitt, in 15" and 17" lengths for more forearm coverage. Both are spot clean only and sold individually, so order one for each hand. No matter where you're located — a bakery in Toronto, a café in Mississauga, or right here in Vaughan — Phoenix Food Equipment gets oven mitts to you across the GTA and nationwide across Canada.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions we hear from operators.

Are oven mitts machine washable?

It depends on the mitt, so check the care instructions first. The Winco Flame Retardant Oven Mitt and Winco Neoprene Oven Mitt are both listed as spot clean only, which means wiping them with a damp cloth rather than putting them through a washing machine or dishwasher. Wipe off spills and grease as they happen, since a mitt soaked in oil or water is less safe to use. If a mitt is scorched, thin, or stained through, replace it instead of trying to clean it back to life. In a busy kitchen, it's worth keeping a spare on hand.

How much heat can oven mitts take?

Both Winco mitts offer protection up to 400°F (205°C), which is meant for handling hot pans, not for holding your hand in a hot oven. If your ovens run hotter than that, such as a pizza or deck oven, check the rating before you reach in and use a peel for anything that needs to go deep inside. Keep mitts dry, too: a damp or wet mitt passes heat to your hand much faster and can cause steam burns. And remember that flame retardant means a mitt resists catching fire, not that it's fireproof, so keep it away from open flame.

What length oven mitt do I need?

Choose the length by how deep you reach. A 13" mitt covers the hand and wrist for pulling pans off a rack or range, while 15" to 17" lengths cover more of the forearm, which helps when reaching into a deep oven or over a steam table. The Winco Flame Retardant Oven Mitt comes in 13" and 15", and the Winco Neoprene Oven Mitt comes in 15" and 17". Both are sold individually, so order two if each hand needs one.
