Detecto Commercial Scales in Toronto & Canada

Detecto Commercial Scales in Toronto & Canada

Detecto started in 1900, when the Jacobs Brothers began building and repairing foodservice scales in Brooklyn, New York. Since 1981 it's been part of family owned Cardinal Scale, which runs its factory and headquarters in Webb City, Missouri. Why choose Detecto over a portion scale brand like Escali? Detecto has focused on weighing for more than 125 years, and most of the scales we carry are NTEP certified. Detecto scales come with a 2 year limited warranty from the date of shipment, handled by Detecto in Canada and the USA. One standout is the Detecto PZ Series Wireless Portioning Ingredient Scale. Its Wave-a-Weigh photo eye lets you tare the scale with a wave of your hand, and its wireless indicator mounts up to 30 feet from the stainless steel platform. We also carry the Detecto DL Series Price Computing Scale with Built-in Printer, which stores up to 5990 PLUs and prints custom labels. The DL Series and its replacement labels are quick ship and usually go out within 1-2 business days, while other Detecto scales typically have an estimated lead time of 1-3 weeks. Phoenix Food Equipment ships Detecto from Vaughan across Toronto, the GTA, and the rest of Canada and the USA.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions we hear from operators.

What is the warranty on Detecto products?

Detecto's warranty goes through the manufacturer, and claims are handled by Detecto's customer service team, including for customers in Canada. Detecto scales carry a 2 year limited warranty from the date of shipment. In the first 90 days a defective scale is replaced at no charge after inspection, and after that it's repaired or replaced with a remanufactured unit. We can assist with any brand that isn't in-house, so if you have any questions, or your scale arrives defective, damaged, or not what you ordered, contact us at sales@phoenixfe.ca or 1-833-669-8003.

What's the difference between a price computing scale and a POS scale?

A price computing scale does the math for you. The Detecto D Series stores up to 99 PLUs and shows the weight, unit price, and total price on front and rear displays, and it can print labels through the Detecto P225 thermal label printer. The DL Series adds a built in printer and up to 5990 PLUs. A POS scale like the Detecto APS Series weighs the item and sends that weight to your point of sale system, which calculates the price for faster checkouts.

Is Detecto a good brand for commercial scales?
