Phoenix Food Equipment's Packaging Equipment collection covers both. The Winco EBS-400M is an impulse bag sealer with a 16" seal bar that seals rolled, embossed, flat, or zipper bags in as little as 0.2 seconds, with no warm-up time needed — ideal for retail, foodservice, grocery, and industrial sealing. The Eurodib KW450 is a compact shrink wrap machine built for small-quantity wrapping, fitting up to 18" wide shrink wrap rolls, and is a common sight behind the counter in supermarkets, hotels, and restaurants. Need to remove air entirely instead of just sealing the bag? Our Vacuum Sealers & Packaging Machines collection covers that side of packaging. Serving Vaughan and the wider GTA — including Toronto, Mississauga, Markham, and Hamilton — Phoenix Food Equipment ships bag sealers and shrink wrap machines nationwide across Canada.
Common questions from operators buying this kind of equipment.
An impulse sealer, like our Winco EBS-400M, uses a heated wire to melt and seal a poly bag shut in seconds — it doesn't remove any air from inside the bag first, so it's fast and simple but doesn't extend shelf life the way removing air does. A vacuum sealer, like the machines in our Vacuum Sealers & Packaging Machines collection, pulls the air out of the bag or chamber before sealing, which slows spoilage and prevents freezer burn. If you're sealing bags for short-term storage, display, or shipping, an impulse sealer is the faster, cheaper option; if you need to extend shelf life or prep for sous vide, go vacuum.
An impulse sealer, like our Winco EBS-400M, seals a poly bag shut along one edge with a heated wire — the bag itself doesn't change shape, it just gets a sealed edge. A shrink wrap machine, like our Eurodib KW450, instead wraps loose plastic film around the entire product and then shrinks that film tight against it with heat, giving a snug, retail-ready presentation. Impulse sealers are the better fit for bagging bulk or prepped food; shrink wrap machines are the better fit for individually wrapping items for display or sale, like a wrapped sandwich or a small gift basket.
It depends on the machine. The Winco EBS-400M has a 15 3/4" (400mm) seal bar and handles rolled, embossed, flat, or zipper bags up to 1/32" (0.5mm) thick, covering most standard poly bag sizes used in foodservice and retail. The Eurodib KW450 fits shrink wrap rolls up to 18" wide, enough for wrapping most small to mid-sized food items and packages. Neither machine is built for oversized industrial rolls or bags, so if you're working with something wider than that, talk to our team about options.
